Acquisition Project – Sheep Island
In partnership with:
Acquisition History
Acquired by NCC in the early 2000s, MICA was asked to conduct a clean up of the island in the fall of 2003. It was a big job however we had a good turnout and significant amount of accumulated trash including a camp was removed from the island.
When we were discussing our financial contribution for Quaker, Lynch and Snake Islands, for which we received a typical Stewardship Agreement, we arranged a similar agreement for Sheep Island, as it was located near our Andrews and Goat Islands and NCC allowed Sheep to be available for traditional public use.
Island Description
The island is located to the east of Andrews and to the south of Goat. It is about 4 acres, a typical drumlin island with a sand beach on the north side and with typical mixed hardwood and softwood forest. The north side provides a great spot for a picnic and swim.
