I am honored to be a volunteer director with the Mahone Islands Conservation Association.  As a recently retired teacher, it gives me an opportunity to continue working for my community with others who share an important common goal.  I have always been passionate about nature conservation and active outdoor recreation.  The conservation of our beautiful islands and shorelines is a gift to our current community and all our future generations.

As co-chair of the MICA Gala Dinner and Auction Committee, I have had the opportunity to work with an amazing team of local volunteers to fundraise in support of Island and shoreline purchases.  Our community of businesses and artists have always been very generous to support our Mission of conservation.

My recreational activities of paddling, rowing, sailing, and swimming allow me to enjoy the waters and many MICA islands of Mahone Bay.  My husband Gary and myself are happy to be the island champions of Goat Island. This volunteer commitment of stewardship finds us visiting, cleaning, and reporting regularly on the state of Goat Island. It is a small but lovely jewel of an island to picnic on or snorkel around.

I will continue to work hard for our membership by actively raising funds and awareness for the conservation of our current MICA Islands as well as those acquired in the future.
