MICA at the 2025 Boat Show
Mahone Islands Conservation Association was happy to continue with its tradition of participating in the Halifax International Boat Show in early February. It was a well attended event, with the weather a mix of beautiful days and heavy snow on others.
Our information booth was staffed by MICA members who generously volunteered their time to help MICA spread the word about its ongoing projects and mission. Many visitors at the MICA booth voiced their support for the public moorings program which started in 2023. This is an ongoing project with support from the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, the Municipality of the District of Chester and the NS Department of Natural Resources and Renewables. We invite those who value this project to provide financial support through a donation to MICA. Our volunteers had fun sharing the chart of Mahone Bay with those who stopped by the booth. It is quite impressive to see all the red dots marking the 26 MICA properties!

Our long time director Syd Dumaresq presented a seminar called “How to Save an Island” which was well received. He was able to sum up over 20 years of work in an hour long talk!
