Sailing Adventure
Day Sailing Adventure on Defiant
Enjoy a day of sailing around the islands on the beautiful waters of Mahone Bay.
Defiant, a comfortable CS 33, sloop rigged, cruising sailboat is equipped with all required safety gear.
On-board facilities include a heated cabin, protected cockpit, head and galley.
This sailing adventure leaves the dock at Gold River Marina at approximately 1000 hrs and would return up to 8 hours later after a cruise of 10 to 25 nautical miles. The route is selected from the Mahone Bay chart based on the desires of the guests and the peculiarities of the wind. Arrangements for a light lunch at sea will be discussed.

Four guests can be accommodated and young people are welcome. All get a chance to sail Defiant.

James Forbes is an auctioneer by profession as well as a wood carver, known for his brilliant caricatures of political fgures. He is a Nova Scotia Folk Art festival exhibitor. Jimmy now experiments with incorporating metal elements into some of his wood carvings. Tis is a one of a kind rooster!

Teresa Bergen is a ceramic artist who creates playful and interactive pieces of sculpture and pottery.
This whimsical teapot has personality with colourful narrative decoration and hands and legs making
teatime an adventure. Teresa is a graduate of Langara College in Vancouver and NSCAD in Halifax.
Her work is highly collectible and is sought throughout Canada and the United States.
Her pottery and sculpture pieces can be seen at the Clever Hen Pottery, Chester.

Robert carved and exhibited in Ontario for 30 years before moving to Blue Rocks in 2015
where he has a small studio, FolkWorks. He has exhibited at the

a popular resort in Prince Edward County. Robert's folk art pieces are humorous and witty.

"My name is Linda Oickle - I'm now living in Mahone Bay, but I was brought up in Blockhouse. After returning to my love of art and drawing in 2004, I was encouraged by my daughter to try printing. I tried many forms of the printmaking process, but I fell in love with the tactile art of linocutting, drawing my design, cutting and inking the plates. This gives me the ability to make more than one original image from any of my plates!"

This quilt was created in the 1980s, one of the first and most elaborate of the Mahone Bay quilts that Vicki Lynn Bardon created. Featuring quilted details of ships and historic buildings, it is a true work of art. This quilt has been safely stored since the '80s and has never been hung or seen the light of day. Therefore the colours and fabric are in mint condition.

Marla Benton, clay artist, earned her education through the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, the Ontario College of Art and Design and Nipissing University. Through all her life experiences, Marla has been exposed to many different materials. She has found that clay is the most complimentary medium, as she loves to be practical and fanciful at the same time. Marla lives just outside of Mahone Bay with her husband, Eric, their daughter, Juniper, and their cats, Turtle & Bear.
