With the fundraising for the purchase of Sacrifice Island well underway, MICA's 6th annual Gala Dinner & Auction focused on raising money to support this acquisition. We topped last year's record ($26,000) with a new record of over $35,000!

Thank you to everyone - our Supporters, Donors, Gala Guests, Volunteers, musicians Dr. Laurie McNeill and Rich Knowles and theOrganizing Committee - who helped make this year's event a resounding success.

The evening reflected the culture and lifestyle of this exceptional coastal region by auctioning island experiences - the art, music, photography, stories, cooking and outdoor life.

Marilyn Hart (second from left) and Ron Whynot (third from right) created a Gourmet Dinner
which was successfully bid on by John McLennan (second from right) at the 2008 auction.

Local artisans continue to be major contributors to the annual MICA fundraising dinner.

The Silent Auction & Personal Treasures offered an extensive selection of items ...

with a great variety of visual art ...

lots of wonderful art ...

and other things...

including sails, cottages, music, and dinners!

Auctioneer Dean Manning runs the Live Auction with help from MICA Directors Michael Ernst
(MC for the evening) and David Nicholson, and volunteer Jeff Avery.

Volunteers at the sales tables help winning bidders pick up their treasures.

John McLennan and JoAnn Ramsay (on the left) of High Head, Martin’s Point hosted a dinner party
with entertainment by Dicey Reilly and a gourmet meal by Sweet Indulgence which
they successfully bid on at the last auction.

The mainstay of the auction each year continues to be the exceptional visual art contributed by local artists. However, experiences like dinners, sails, cruises, private getaways and musical evenings, introduced a couple of years ago, continue to be smash hits.

Some of the visual artists who contributed to this year's auction included Frans Aeyelts, Holly Carr, Robin Crickmer, Anya Holloway, Sheila Lewis, Barbara McLean, Ed Porter, Meg Race, Carol Ann Shelton, Anne Tweed, Carole Whitcombe, and Ruth Wilton.
